This mentorship program connects oncology professionals seeking career guidance with experienced mentors in the field. The program emphasizes confidentiality, professional development, and flexible matching to support diverse career paths in oncology.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- Facilitate meaningful mentor-mentee relationships for career advancement
- Provide guidance on clinical practice, research, and leadership development
- Support professional networking within the oncology community
- Promote knowledge transfer across career stages and subspecialties
MENTOR ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in oncology practice, research, or administration
- Active involvement in oncology care, research, or education
- Commitment to professional development of others
Time Commitment:
- Minimum 6-month mentorship period
- 1-2 contact points per month (meetings, calls, or emails)
- Complete on-demand orientation: a recorded slide presentation with voiceover, available at any time through the NNECOS member portal, covering program expectations, resources, and program coordinator contact information
Mentor Responsibilities:
- Provide career guidance and professional advice
- Share experiences and insights from their career journey
- Maintain confidentiality of all mentorship conversations
- Respond to mentee communications within one week
- Complete brief semi-annual check-in surveys
MENTEE ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility Criteria:
- Medical professionals working in or entering oncology (physicians, nurses, researchers, pharmacists, administrators, etc.)
- Clear professional development goals
Mentee Responsibilities:
- Define specific mentorship goals at program outset
- Initiate regular contact with mentor
- Come prepared to mentorship meetings
- Respect mentor's time and boundaries
- Complete brief semi-annual feedback surveys
