Test Taking Strategies

Nicole is the Clinical Program Coordinator/Nurse Navigator for the Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal (GI) and Genitourinary (GU) Multidisciplinary Care Cancer Clinics at The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT.

Nicole graduated from the University of Vermont in 1998 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and since then has worked as an oncology nurse at The University of Vermont Medical Center in a variety of roles, including staff nurse on the in-patient oncology unit and as a primary nurse in the Department of Surgical Oncology. She has been in her current role as the Clinical Program Coordinator/Nurse Navigator of the GI Multidisciplinary Care Cancer Clinic since 2007 and for the GU Multidisciplinary Care Cancer Clinic since 2012. Nicole obtained certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) in 2015 and as an Oncology Nurse Navigator-Certified Generalist (ONN-CG) in 2016.

She has previously served as a Leadership Council member of the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators (AONN) and participated on the AONN+ Evidence Into Practice Standardized Navigation Metrics Project Team. Nicole currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society (NNECOS) and serves as co-chair for the Nursing & Allied Health Professional Advisory Committee (NAHPAC) of NNECOS.

In addition to speaking at national conferences, Nicole has contributed to the Cancer Site-Specific Navigation chapter in the Oncology Nursing Society's 2014 publication, Oncology Nurse Navigation: Delivering Patient-Centered Care Across the Continuum Oncology, as well as a contributor to the companion publication by ONS, Oncology Nurse Navigation Case Studies, in 2017. Nicole was a nominee for Cure Magazine’s 2013 Extraordinary Healers Award for Oncology Nursing.

 
Emma L. Dann DNP, RN, OCN, NEA-BC

Symptom Management 

Emma is the Associate Chief Nurse of the Network sites at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). Emma is responsible for and supports the ongoing clinical operations of DFCI’s network and collaborative sites to ensure continued excellence and quality of care. Prior to joining Dana-Farber in 2015, Emma was previously at Maine Medical Center as the Director of Oncology Nursing Services and Amgen as a Clinical Oncology Specialist. Emma has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire, A Masters of Science in Nursing Administration from Northeastern University, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a focus in Executive Leadership from Simmons College. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL), Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society (NNECOS) and an active volunteer in the professional community. Emma is a member of the NNECOS NAHPAC - Nursing and Allied Health Professional Advisory Committee.
 

Elizabeth McGrath DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, AOCNP, ACHPN

Elizabeth McGrath is a nurse practitioner at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, as well as a member of the GI Oncology Program and an Instructor at the Geisel School of Medicine. Elizabeth is an expert in oncology nursing with over 30 years’ experience in both community and academic settings, as a clinician, educator, and researcher and in leadership. She joined the staff of the NCCC in 2009. In 2011 she was a sub investigator in a CDC funded study “Reducing Disparities in Health for Vulnerable Populations in NH and VT: Journey Forward Cancer Survivor Care Planning in the Rural Northeast.” She is a member of the NNECOS Board of Directors and NAHPAC, and recently earned her DNP at Northeastern University. Practice interests include symptom management, palliative care and geriatric oncology.

Anna Schaal MSN, APNP

Pathophysiology of Hematologic Malignancies

Anna Schaal has been a nurse hematology nurse practitioner at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center since 2004. She received her undergraduate BScN at University of Alberta, and her graduate MS from the University of Vermont. Her special interests include multiple myeloma, cancer survivorship and quality of life.
