High value, safe and efficient clinical research holds great promise to advance early diagnosis, care and treatment of patients across the lifespan. Both clinical nurses and clinical research nurses (CRNs) play important roles in maximizing these advancements as care and continuity providers, advocates and colleagues. This session will provide a brief summary of the necessary elements of ethical and reliable clinical research and open a discussion on how clinical nurses and CRNs can support, educate and advocate for patients as they consider becoming healthy volunteers or choose a role as research participant in a clinical trial.
