September 19, 2020

In light of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, and out of concern for the safety of the patient population we serve, the NNECOS Board of Directors has made the decision to move the "Spring Meeting ... in the Fall!" to a virtual event. We are excited about the opportunities that hosting a virtual event will provide us to engage with the broader oncology community across Northern New England and beyond, and have committed to providing this educational and networking opportunity free of charge to our attendees.

We hope that you will be able to participate with us in this first-ever virtual NNECOS educational event. Our approach will include a combination of pre-recorded and scheduled "live" content, and spatial video chat networking opportunities!

Monday, September 14th we will release six prerecorded sessions of our Innovation Track on the event platform:

  • Fertility Preservation and Family Building: Evaluating your Options
  • Survivorship from the inside out: My Journey to Becoming an Oncologist
  • I survived cancer as a young adult, now what? Words from the patients
  • “I have cancer, I’m not nuts” - Understanding the psychosocial challenges for young adult cancer survivors
  • Innovative Abstracts: Poster and Podium Presentations
  • Old Vices, New Devices: Vaping 2020

Watch the sessions at your leisure, and submit any questions via the platform chat. These questions will be answered during the Live Q&A on Saturday, September 19th, when we gather together on the event platform, using the following schedule:

7:15 AM  NNECOS Networking Lounge Orientation & Pre-Meeting Networking
8:00 AM  Winning the Brain Game: Young Adults & Survivorship with Live Q&A
 9:00 AM  NNECOS Networking Lounge
 9:45 AM  Cross-Agenda Live Q&A
10:45 AM  KEYNOTE: From Patient to Participant: Toward a Collaborative Care Experience with Live Q&A
 11:45 AM
 Virtual Poster Session
 12:00 PM
 NNECOS Networking Lounge
 1:00 PM
Virtual Passport to Prizes Drawing (grand prize: Apple Watch Series 4 GPS)

Our annual Patient Assistance Presentations will be scheduled for Tuesday September 22nd at 7:00pm.

Please note, if you were a paid registrant for the originally scheduled meeting, a refund will be issued.

Given the added flexibility of a virtual event, the planning team has conceived of a more spread-out approach to the OCN Review Course which we hope will enhance the attendee learning experience, and also allow those participating in the OCN Review Course to still partake in the Innovation track of the meeting. As with the Innovation Track, NNECOS is committed to offering this OCN Review Course free of charge to our attendees. Our approach to this event will be based on pre-recorded educational sessions delivered through our online event platform. The OCN Review Course sessions will be released on the originally scheduled Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 am on the event platform, which includes an attendee “chat” area on the session player where questions can be submitted at the time of viewing. Then, on Tuesday, September 29th at 7:00pm, we will host a live Q&A session to answer submitted questions as well as additional live questions, providing an opportunity for additional practice test questions for course participants. We hope that you will join us!

OCN Review Course Sessions:

  • Psychosocial, Emotional, Sexual
  • Pathophysiology of Hematologic Malignancies
